Dead Sea - Nature Health

It is now recognised that the interaction with the skin of certain minerals and water-insoluble ingredients such as lipids is important for increasing the metabolic rate and maintaining proper moisture levels. Lack of water is the primary cause of dry skin. Moreover, the softness and flexibility of the stratum corneum is a direct function of its moisture content. In simple terms, the biological sequence can be described as follows:

  • Cells need a combination of minerals to prevent evaporation of moisture.
  • Moisture is required to aid proper blood flow into the skin region.
  • Blood carries the oxygen required for the metabolism process.

Loss of minerals is thus linked to the formation of wrinkles. The depletion of minerals in the skin is a natural process due to the physical conditions, health, age and external causes. It is therefore important to maintain the proper levels of minerals, and this can be achieved by bathing in the Dead Sea, with its very high mineral concentrations, or by the application of cosmetics enriched with natural Dead Sea minerals. In both instances, the minerals soothe and rejuvenate the skin, help prevent cell shrinkage, and repair damaged skin. The total effect is that the skin look younger, feels fresher, and is more relaxed.

In the last 35-40 years, the Dead Sea is very known as a treatment cosmetic centre as well as a cure centre of some significant pathologies of the skin, such as:

  • Psoriasis
  • Atopic Dermatitis
  • Eczematosis Dermatitis
  • Acne
